ICMR Pharmacology Scientist Opening

INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH
REF. ADV. NO. 1 /2010-2011-ADMN.I (MPU)/ICMR HQRS.
Applications are invited upto 09.08.2010 for one post of Scientist – C in the Pay Band - 3 Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs. 6600 forMedicinal Plant Unit in the Hqrs. Office under Health Research Scientist Cadre of ICMR Rules, 2007. It carries All India transfer liability:-.
Essential Qualification
(i) First Class Master’s Degree in Pharmacology/Biological Sciences/ Chemistry from a recognized university or equivalent.
(ii) Four years R & D experience in the area of Natural Products/Medicinal  Plants in recognized institute(s) after obtaining essential qualification at (i) above.
Desirable:
(i) Doctorate Degree in Pharmacology/Biological Sciences/ Chemistry (Organic Chemistry), for candidates with first class relevant degree..
(ii) Additional post doctoral research/ in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s)
(iii) Knowledge of computer applications or Business Intelligence Tools/ Data Management.
Note:
(i) Ph.D degree in subjects relevant to Indian Council of Medical Research shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.
(ii) Candidates with the Ph. D degree will be preferred.
Job Requirement
Job requires preparation of Monographs on medicinal plants covering various aspects viz., pharmacognostical studies including taxonomical nomenclature, understanding of adulterants and substitutes; chemical studies covering primary, secondary and bioactive constituents; recording of pharmacological profile, clinical trials, toxicity studies as per drug regulation and developing quality standards of medicinal plants. To do scanning, collection, analyzing, collation of multidisciplinary scientific information on medicinal plants. Experience of literature search both by gital and traditional sources and working on various databases related to medicinal plants. To assist in drafting, evaluation, scrutiny, finalization of monographs, reviews, reports etc. relating to medicinal plants and coordination of other related activities under the Unit.
(A) Age limit
Not exceeding 40 years as on 09.08.2010. .
(B) Upper age limit as prescribed in Para 4(A) will be relaxable;
(i) Upto a maximum 5 years to Government servants in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time.
(ii) Upto a maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to a SC or a ST category; as per orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.
(iii) Upto a maximum of 10 years if the candidate is a physically handicapped person as per instruction issued from time to time by the GOI.
(iv) Upto a maximum of 3 years if a candidate belongs to OBCs in accordance with DOPT instruction from time to time.
Note:-
(i) SC/ST/PH candidates should submit attested copies of certificates for claiming fee concession / age relaxation.
(ii) OBC certificate for the purpose of age relaxation will mean “PERSONS OF OBC CATEGORY NOT BELONGING TO CREAMY LAYER” as defined in DOPT’S O.M. NO. 36012/22/93-Estt (SCT) dated 8.9.1993 and modified vide O.M. NO. 36033/3/2004-Estt (Res) dated 9.3.2004 and 14.10.2008. The closing date for receipt of application will be treated as the date of reckoning for OBC status of the candidate and also for assuming that the candidate does not fall in the Creamy layer on the reckoning date. The candidate should furnish the relevant OBC certificate in the format prescribed for Govt. Job and furnish declaration. OBC candidates must, therefore, furnish valid and updated OBC certificate which should specifically include the clause regarding “ Exclusion from Creamy Layer” in order to get age relaxation.

“I,____________________son/daughter of Shri __________________resident of village/town/city _________district_____________________state_______________ hereby declare that I belong to the _____________________Community which is recognized as backward class by the Government of India for the purpose of reservation in service as per orders contained in Department of Personnel and Training Office memorandum. No.36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 8.9.1993. It is also declared that I do not belong to persons/sections( Creamy Layer) mentioned in column 3 of the Schedule to the above referred Office Memorandum dated 8.9.1993”.
Pension will be admissible as per new restructured defined contribution Pension system. NPA as per rules of the Council is admissible to Medical Graduates.
Application form and other details are obtainable from Administrative Officer, Admn.I, ICMR, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi-110029. Application format can also be downloaded at ICMRWebsiteForms duly completed together with application fee ofRs.100/- by crossed IPO only, drawn in favour of D.G., ICMR New Delhi should be sent to Admn. Officer (Admn.I), Indian Council of Medical Research, V. Ramalingaswami Bhawan, Ansari Nagar, Post Box No.4911, New Delhi-110029, so as to reach on or before09.8.2010SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from this payment of application fee. Like other candidates, the departmental candidates are also required to pay application fee alongwith application form. Applications received late/incomplete and or without fee will not be entertained.
Note:- Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview the applicants will be shortlisted for this purpose and the decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Outstation candidates called for interview for the above post will be paid 2nd class to and fro rail fare by shortest route on production of documents. Any canvassing by or on behalf of candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/ recruitment shall be considered as disqualification.
IMPORTANT : Applicants should indicate legibly on the first page of the prescribed application form the Advertisement Number and the post applied for.
