ICMR Pharmacology Scientist Opening

INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH

Applications are invited upto 09.08.2010 for one post of Scientist – C in the Pay Band - 3 Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs. 6600 forMedicinal Plant Unit in the Hqrs. Office under Health Research Scientist Cadre of ICMR Rules, 2007. It carries All India transfer liability:-.
Essential Qualification
(i) First Class Master’s Degree in Pharmacology/Biological Sciences/ Chemistry from a recognized university or equivalent.
(ii) Four years R & D experience in the area of Natural Products/Medicinal  Plants in recognized institute(s) after obtaining essential qualification at (i) above.
Desirable:
(i) Doctorate Degree in Pharmacology/Biological Sciences/ Chemistry (Organic Chemistry), for candidates with first class relevant degree..
(ii) Additional post doctoral research/ in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s)
(iii) Knowledge of computer applications or Business Intelligence Tools/ Data Management.
Note:
(i) Ph.D degree in subjects relevant to Indian Council of Medical Research shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.
(ii) Candidates with the Ph. D degree will be preferred.
Job Requirement
Job requires preparation of Monographs on medicinal plants covering various aspects viz., pharmacognostical studies including taxonomical nomenclature, understanding of adulterants and substitutes; chemical studies covering primary, secondary and bioactive constituents; recording of pharmacological profile, clinical trials, toxicity studies as per drug regulation and developing quality standards of medicinal plants. To do scanning, collection, analyzing, collation of multidisciplinary scientific information on medicinal plants. Experience of literature search both by gital and traditional sources and working on various databases related to medicinal plants. To assist in drafting, evaluation, scrutiny, finalization of monographs, reviews, reports etc. relating to medicinal plants and coordination of other related activities under the Unit.
(A) Age limit
Not exceeding 40 years as on 09.08.2010. .
(B) Upper age limit as prescribed in Para 4(A) will be relaxable;
(i) Upto a maximum 5 years to Government servants in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time.
(ii) Upto a maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to a SC or a ST category; as per orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.
(iii) Upto a maximum of 10 years if the candidate is a physically handicapped person as per instruction issued from time to time by the GOI.
(iv) Upto a maximum of 3 years if a candidate belongs to OBCs in accordance with DOPT instruction from time to time.
Note:-
(i) SC/ST/PH candidates should submit attested copies of certificates for claiming fee concession / age relaxation.
(ii) OBC certificate for the purpose of age relaxation will mean “PERSONS OF OBC CATEGORY NOT BELONGING TO CREAMY LAYER” as defined in DOPT’S O.M. NO. 36012/22/93-Estt (SCT) dated 8.9.1993 and modified vide O.M. NO. 36033/3/2004-Estt (Res) dated 9.3.2004 and 14.10.2008. The closing date for receipt of application will be treated as the date of reckoning for OBC status of the candidate and also for assuming that the candidate does not fall in the Creamy layer on the reckoning date. The candidate should furnish the relevant OBC certificate in the format prescribed for Govt. Job and furnish declaration. OBC candidates must, therefore, furnish valid and updated OBC certificate which should specifically include the clause regarding “ Exclusion from Creamy Layer” in order to get age relaxation.

Note:- Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview the applicants will be shortlisted for this purpose and the decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Outstation candidates called for interview for the above post will be paid 2nd class to and fro rail fare by shortest route on production of documents. Any canvassing by or on behalf of candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/ recruitment shall be considered as disqualification.

Entrance pattern:
Well entrance consists of 200 questions in 2 hours. (Please check it in Brochure). Well questions will be very easy so no need to go in depth of the topic. Basic concepts based questions are asked. Drug Inspector:37 Posts
Applications are invited for recruitment on regular basis to 37 posts of Drug Inspectors which are lying vacant in the institutions of Health Department Punjab. Number of posts may increase or decrease.
The detail of posts in various categories and their pay scale is as per Annexure-A and B. No Person shall be appointed to the services by direct recruitment, unless he passes the following educational qualifications and experience:-
Educational and other Qualifications for Drug Inspector:
Should possess a degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized University or institution:
Provided that only those inspectors:-
i) Who have not less than 18 months experience in the manufacture of at least one of the substances specified in Schedule “C” of the Drugs and cosmetic Rules 1945; or
ii) Who have not less than 18 months experience in the testing of at least one of the substances in Schedule “c” of the Drugs and cosmetic Rules 1945; in a laboratory approved for this purpose by the licensing authority; or
iii) Who have gained experience of not less than 3 years in the inspection of farms manufacturing any of the substances in Schedule “c” of the Drugs and Cosmetic Rules 1945 during the tenure of their services as Drugs inspectors; Shall be authorized to inspect the manufacture of the substances mentioned in Schedule “c” of the Drugs and cosmetic Rules 1945.
iv) Knowledge of Punjabi Language up to Matriculation Standard. Candidates who do not possess the qualification shall have to acquire this qualification within six months of their joining the service failing which their services shall be terminated.
5. AGE LIMIT:-
18 to 35 years on 1-1-2010.
NOTE:
i) The upper age limit for Punjab State, other States or Central Government Employees is relaxable up 45 years.
ii) The upper age limit prescribed above is relaxable up to a maximum of five years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of all States and Backward Classes of Punjab.
iii) The upper age limit for widows and certain other categories of women of Punjab is relaxable up to 40 years.
iv) An ex-serviceman of Punjab domicile shall be allowed to deduct the period of his service in the Armed Forces of the Union from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for direct appointment to such a vacancy in the service Rules concerned by more than three years, he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.

1. Candidates will be considered in the category in which they are applying on merit i.e. General Category & Reserve Category.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  1. Upper age limit not exceeding 32 years as on the date of interview. Age relaxation for SC/ST candidates 05 years and OBC candidates 03 years as per Government of India instructions.

  2. The Application form will be provided at the venue on the date. However, candidate may download the application form in advance from the website www.nbri-lko.org. At the time of interview candidates should bring one latest photograph, attested copy of certificates of examinations passed (starting from matriculation), certificate indicating date of birth, caste certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC) and experience certificate, etc. Tentative mark sheets/certificates and 'result awaited' will not be considered. All eligible candidates are requested to be present at the venue on the said date 30 minutes before the scheduled time for necessary formalities.

  3. Mode of Selection: Through Interview. However, if large number of candidates turns up, a Screening test comprising of multiple choice objective questions will be held for short listing the candidates for interview. The short listed candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee and, based on the performance in the interview, a panel of recommended candidates will be formed. The panel shall be utilized as and when the requirement arises in the projects in the relevant field/area. Candidates have the option to interact in Hindi/English before the committee.

  4. The positions are purely temporary on contract basis and co- terminus with the sponsored projects. Further the above stipend(s) is tentative and the same will be finally decided based on the availability of funds in the relevant sponsored projects.

  5. To avoid any inconvenience, only those candidates who strictly fulfill the eligibility criteria  and possess the degree/mark sheet in the aforesaid subjects should turn up for floating interview
